How to Apply

The Mid-Kansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure offers grants for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, and treatment support targeting services not otherwise available to the populations of our 95 county service area:

Grants are available for up to one (1) year and are on a fiscal year cycle from April 1 to March 31.

Small Grants are available throughout the year.
Small grants are intended to support some of the “unexpected” costs associated with a project (e.g. purchase of educational materials, food costs for a presentation, survivor recognition, etc.). Small Grants are NOT intended to support salary or services for an individual (e.g. mammography, ultrasound), development of materials, etc.

Only funding requests which meet the following criteria will be considered for a small grant:

  • Specific to breast health/breast cancer
  • Relevant to Komen for the Cure’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures
  • Funding request is less than $3,000 
  • Willingness to acknowledge support of the Mid-Kansas Komen Affiliate
  • Report financial and progress to Affiliate 
  • Allow participation of Affiliate representative where appropriate
  • Not for a fund raising activity

Eligibility criteria for Community Grant Applications:

  • Applications are accepted nonprofit (federally tax-exempt) organizations, e.g. nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies and Indian tribes are eligible. 
  • Programs must be specific to breast health and/or breast cancer; e.g. if a program is a combined breast and cervical cancer program, funding may only be requested for the breast cancer portion

Community Grant Funds cannot be used for the following purposes:

  •  Medical or scientific research
  • Scholarships or fellowships 
  • Construction or renovation of facilities 
  • Political campaigns or lobbying 
  • Endowments 
  • Debt Reduction 
  • Non Komen Conference travel or fees (Individuals may apply to Komen Mid-Kansas for a separate travel scholarships)
